The Beacon at Broomhill

Minister: Rev Will Fletcher

Location: Fulwood Road, Broomhill, Sheffield | See map

The Beacon at Broomhill is a church merge of former Broomhill and Crookes Valley congregations and provides a friendly, informal environment to worship God, to share experiences with one another and to explore the Christian faith. It is based in the popular student area of Broomhill, yet its informal and accessible style attracts people from a wider area of the city.

Welcoming students to Sheffield

The congregation welcomes students each year, with an active and lively student group meeting regularly onsite for fellowship and meals. In addition to the morning service, the Broomhill site is also home of The Junction, a term-time evening service specially formulated for students and young adults. This service alternates between cafe and reflective styles. More information can be found at

What to expect ...

Entering the building from the front entrance on Fulwood Road, you will more often than not be greeted by one of our welcoming steward who will be happy to answer any questions about worship at Broomhill. We aim to provide a relaxed atmosphere with the worship space set out in a 'cafe style' layout. Fresh coffee and refreshments are served from 10.00am by one of our welcoming team so on arrival feel free to make your way to the drinks table and grab a cup before finding a comfy seat.

Our aims

As Christians, we believe that the Church exists to celebrate God’s creative and liberating love and power, in worship, learning and mission in the world. Together, we are called to share and deepen our understanding of the life and teaching of Jesus as encountered primarily in the Bible. We commit ourselves to the following aims:

  • To worship together in ways which are rooted in everyday life, sharing and valuing each person’s contribution and spirituality.
  • To be a welcoming and inclusive community, eager to receive and learn from the talents, insights and experiences of others.
  • To explore and witness to our faith together, with Christians (especially through ‘Churches Together in Broomhill’) and with other people.
  • To offer our building as a resource for the local community, thereby witnessing to God’s presence and activity in daily life.
  • To help one another to respond to needs and opportunities wherever they arise.
  • To provide space and support for students in partnership with the University Chaplaincy.
